Overview:

Our site in Meyrin, Switzerland currently has an exciting opportunity for a Health, Safety and Environmental Leader.

 

The Site Health, Safety and Environmental Leader is responsible for leading the ongoing development, implementation and continuous improvement of the Meyrin Technology and Innovation Center’s Stewardship programs and performance.

The successful candidate will lead, develop and maintain high performance while engaging with the site leaders to drive world-class Stewardship performance at the site.

This position will also serve as the EMEA regional Stewardship resource for Technology and Innovation, Laboratories and Office teams.  

Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

  • Collaborate with the site director, site leadership team and other leaders at the site and corporate level to establish site Stewardship strategies and long-range plan and ensures that the strategies and long-range plans are effective, simple, and deliver on time results.
  • Ensure that the strategies and the long-range plans build a culture of “no harm” to our people, to our community, and to the environment.
  • Effectively lead Environmental, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Process Safety and Security programs to achieve corporate and regulatory compliance every day.
  • Influence and coach site team on robust action plans to overall stewardship performance.
  • Develop and manage KPI’s and metrics to measure progress and effectiveness of safety initiatives, programs, processes, and policies.
  • Develop a robust set of leading indicators that focuses the team on the critical activities and behaviors to enable excellent Stewardship results.
  • Ensure site Stewardship policies are simplified and easy to adhere to in the field, while aligned with regulatory and corporate requirements.
  • Establish continuous improvement initiatives that are aligned with Human Organizational Performance (HOP) leadership principles. 
  • Build collaborative relationships with site partners and regulatory groups to ensure regulatory compliance is achieved and to build goodwill with the surrounding communities.
  • Accountable for incident management at the site and drives near miss and hazard condition reporting. 
  • Effectively manage emergency and security response programs and engage community associations to act as a liaison.
  • Ensure effective site sustainability reporting and improvement initiatives that are aligned with corporate sustainability goals and requirements.
  • Ensure completion of 1st Party Stewardship Audits and work with the sites leadership team to analyze results to drive continual improvement.
  • Coordinate 2nd party audit schedules and the execution, development, and implementation plan to resolve any audit findings. 
  • Participate in field engagement and interactions with employees and contractors to promote Stewardship continual improvement.

 

Qualifications:

What YOU will bring to the team:

  • University degree in Chemistry, Engineering, EHS, or similar technical discipline.
  • Swiss Diploma “Ingénieur sécurité MSST” is a requirement.
  • Chargé de sécurité incendie is desired.
  • At least 5 -10 years of EHS Management or experience in a Laboratory/R&D environment
  • 5+ years of strong leadership, people management and development skills in an industrial environment.
  • Experience and working knowledge of process safety, environmental, industrial health programs, and occupational safety programs and requirement.
  • Proactive leadership and team-building skills with the ability to work effectively throughout the organization.
  • Ability to develop and grow Stewardship competency through coaching.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to communicate appropriately at all organization levels through written and verbal communications, in both English and in French.
  • Ability to understand how to influence business objectives across the site without formal supervisory authority.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with excellent verbal and written communication in both English and French.
  • Strong sense of ownership and a drive to achieve timely results.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • The confidence to deal with ambiguity.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
