Overview:

This role (as an individual contributor) is responsible for leading the global category of Process and Heat Transfer Equipment, as well as European oversight of on-site Packaging and Warehouse Services plus a broad portfolio of Maintenance, Repair and Operational supplies. The position also holds accountability for Site Sourcing at the Meyrin site.

 

It defines and executes supplier portfolio strategies, establishes commercial frameworks and leads critical contract negotiations to deliver measurable business value. Key outcomes include productivity improvements, strong supplier performance, and the advancement of sustainable procurement practices.

Responsibilities:

YOU will be involved in the following tasks:

  • Strategic Spend Management: Development and execution of sourcing strategies for ~$100 million in indirect procurement across Celanese sites, ensuring alignment with business objectives and value delivery.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with corporate and manufacturing stakeholders to align procurement strategies with operational needs and long-term goals.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Leverage spend analytics and vendor segmentation to identify high-impact opportunities. Develop and implement commodity strategies and sourcing initiatives that drive measurable value.
  • Proactive Engagement: Share insights on spend trends, market dynamics, and sourcing opportunities with key stakeholders to support informed decision-making.
  • Total Cost of Ownership (TCO): Apply TCO principles to optimize cost, service levels, and supplier performance.
  • Project Pipeline Development: Build and maintain a robust pipeline of sourcing projects across categories. Regularly communicate progress and savings opportunities to stakeholders.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Cultivate strategic relationships with critical suppliers. Lead Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) to assess performance and identify mutual growth opportunities.
  • Performance Oversight: Ensure vendors meet service and delivery commitments. Act as the escalation point for performance issues and engage supplier leadership as needed.
  • Compliance & Governance: Ensure adherence to company procurement policies, procedures, and ethical standards.

Qualifications:

What YOU will bring to the team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a supplier or customer‑facing role, or within supply chain, manufacturing, or finance, preferably in the chemical/materials industry.
  • Strategic and innovative mindset with a track record of delivering incremental value.
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation expertise.
  • Advanced analytical, strategic sourcing, and category management capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and complex projects.
  • Demonstrated success in cost savings and value creation.
  • Exceptional communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Fluency in German language.
  • Willingness to travel within Europe .
