Overview:

The Raw Material Procurement - Senior Manager functions as the POC procurement lead for all global procurement activities related to critical raw materials in the polyester chain flowing into Polyester and Hytrel businesses.

Responsibilities:

YOU will be involved in the following tasks:

  • Guide and advise team members in developing robust regional & global category strategies
  • Build and coach team members on their individual development plans and solid succession plan
  • Serve as the procurement business partner to the Elastomers P&L Leader and the Polyester GBM
  • Foster strong relationships with key suppliers resolving supplier disputes, when necessary
  • Ensure team delivers rolling forecast of raw material prices supporting decisions making
  • Develop and communicate supply strategies delivering competitive advantage in terms of total cost and supply reliability.
  • Drive the application of consistent contractual terms & conditions for Global and POC’s own and contract manufacturer’s agreements
  • Negotiate frame agreements for BDO, PBT, PTMEG, TPEE, PTA MEG, DMT and other EM raw materials on behalf of POC in close cooperation with Celanese’s business teams, legal, manufacturing and technology/T&I. Coordinate the assigned portfolio between NAM and Asia.
  • Review and approve/deny all POs/framework agreements relating to the assigned portfolio
  • Establish supplier and 3rd party networks which enable access to information about important market trends and competitive position of supply base
  • Review EM raw materials supplier performance and determine resolutions where issues arise
  • Communicate internally and lead the resolution of supplier performance issues, and identify/manage improvement opportunities for the assigned portfolio
  • Manage EU, US and POC raw material selection process for the assigned portfolio including qualifying/onboarding new alternative suppliers
  • Support and drive the integration of M&A procurement processes ensuring that supply security and overall sourcing competitiveness is improved for related RM spends

Qualifications:

What YOU will bring to the team:

  • Chemistry or Chemical Engineering degree, MBA
  • 5-7 years of experience, ideally in the chemical industry
  • 3-5 years prior commercial experience (preferably sales and/or procurement)
  • Strong communication skills (written/verbal)
  • Strong team leadership skills, including mentoring/coaching
  • Ability to successfully lead diverse groups towards a desired outcome through persuasion and influence
  • Must be driven for results and have strong perseverance
  • Proven negotiation/influencing skills
  • Ability to think strategically
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Strong analytical skills
