Overview:

Position Summary

The Logistics Cost Controlling Associate ensures transparency and accuracy of regional logistics costs by collaborating with Accounts Payable (AP), Logistics Operations, Logistics Procurement, and FP&A teams. The primary goal is to monitor monthly logistics expenses, prevent supplier disruptions due to unpaid invoices, and provide actionable cost analytics to support decision-making.

 

Responsibilities:

YOU will be involved in the following tasks:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and analyze monthly logistics costs across regions.
  • Ensure timely invoice processing and payment to avoid supplier shutdowns.
  • Collaborate with AP to resolve discrepancies and streamline payment processes.
  • Prepare cost reports and analytics, transitioning from static Excel reports to interactive dashboards for improved visibility and decision-making.
  • Support FP&A and Procurement with cost insights for budgeting and negotiations.
  • Maintain accurate cost allocation to profit and cost centers via proper Purchase Order creation.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Manage Quality-Related Costs: Monitor and follow up on disputes from a cost perspective, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Coordinate with Dispute Handling Partner (RECK & Co.): Act as the main contact for claims related to quality notifications and ensure proper follow-up.
  • Drive Cost-Saving Initiatives: Launch projects focused on reducing expenses in quality-related areas, such as damage prevention, minimizing demurrage costs, and reducing penalty charges.
  • Enhance Cost Awareness: Support the organization in understanding logistics cost drivers and their impact.
  • Lead Optimization Projects: Initiate targeted projects to analyze and optimize spending in defined areas.

Qualifications:

What YOU will bring to the team:

 

  • Technical Knowledge:
    • Understanding of AP procedures and invoice workflows.
    • Familiarity with cost center and profit center accounting principles.
  • Analytical Skills:
    • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, charts) and willingness to adopt dashboard tools.
    • Ability to interpret cost data and identify trends.
  • Financial Acumen:
    • Basic knowledge of financial statements and budgeting processes.
  • Communication & Collaboration:
    • Ability to work cross-functionally with finance, procurement, and operations.
    • Skilled in resolving invoice/payment issues with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Experience:
    • Previous exposure to logistics cost control or finance-related roles preferred.
