Overview:

As Product Development Engineer, you will be responsible for monitoring, optimising and operating our pilot line. You will also play a key role in developing our polyester film product portfolio by project managing and scaling up product developments from pilot line to production line. Working within the Technology and Innovation (T&I) Team, you will have the self-motivation and willingness to continuously improve your knowledge and skill set whilst working to the highest safety standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor pilot line equipment performance: assess reliability of equipment, identify failures and causes of failures, and recommend solutions.
  • Maintain, optimise and work within a team to operate the pilot line.
  • Manage the product development of polyester film products through a stage gate process from concept to full scale manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including technical, manufacturing, quality, product stewardship and commercial groups, to ensure alignment from lab to market.
  • Drive scale-up activities and ensure downstream process compatibility.
  • Prepare business cases for new developments, including calculation of estimated trial and product costs.
  • Prepare project plans and progress updates.
  • Design, coordinate, document and review pilot and production line trials.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations of a high quality.
  • Present technical results and learnings to internal and external partners.
  • Generate and analyse technical data according to the end application and product requirements.
  • Contribute to broader T&I initiatives across the global team as required.
  • Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with health, safety and quality standards.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in an Engineering discipline, or significant experience in a similar role.
  • Previous experience in process engineering and/or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Self-motivated and results driven with excellent attention to detail.
  • A methodical approach.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • A strong safety focus, both within own work and that of others.
  • Ability to write procedures, work instructions, trial plans and reports, and other related documents of a high quality.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present findings to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise workloads.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Computer literate.
  • Be adaptable and flexible to support research trials outside of normal working hours, when required.
  • Willingness to learn.
