Overview:

Mylar Specialty Films have an opportunity for an experienced Control Systems Engineer to join our Engineering & Maintenance team.

The successful applicant will have a relevant HNC or above and will have experience carrying out a similar role in a manufacturing/industrial environment. They will become part of the team required to maximize availability of the production assets through continual improvement and optimization of the plant control systems. We are looking for candidates who have the ambition, self-motivation and positive approach to develop their career whilst working to the highest safety standards.   

Responsibilities:

In this role the successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Provide support to the existing control systems to ensure production targets are met.
  • Provide control systems expertise to lead complex control system process trouble-shooting.
  • Support control electrical engineering projects. Project management experience is an advantage.
  • Identify, implement and develop control system and equipment improvements to support the manufacturing operation.
  • Supervise, mentor and coach vendors, contractors, technicians and engineers when required.

Your engineering skills should include training and/or experience in a selection of the following:

  • Proficient in programming of a PLC/SCADA system, preferably Siemens or Rockwell.
  • Thorough knowledge of Machinery Control systems.
  • Experience of process control instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of ATEX installation and inspection, and functional safety standards for safe operation of control systems in hazardous environments.
  • Experience implementing minor control system changes.
  • Familiar with the application of Variable Speed Drives.
  • Knowledge of Industrial communication systems such as Ethernet, Fieldbus etc
  • Hands-on experience fault finding on complex control systems.
  • Working with P&ID’s (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams).
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System)

Qualifications:

You will either be an electrical engineering graduate with a minimum of two years relevant industrial experience in a similar role or be an industry experienced engineer with a recognised apprenticeship and HNC in electrical engineering. 

 

  • Bachelors/Masters degree or HNC with relevant experience in Electrical, Electronic, Controls, or Automation Engineering
  • Experience in an automated machinery manufacturing environment would be advantageous.

 

Training & development will be given to the successful candidate along with opportunities for personal development.

This is a full time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday days, normally 7.30am – 3.30pm, with occasional hours outwith as business needs dictate for project work and plant shutdown support.
