Responsibilities:

 

The Supply Chain Optimization Specialist for Liner, Air, and Freight Forwarding is the primary operational representative between Celanese and our logistics partners with focus on global liner, air, and freight forwarders. This position is primary focus will be to ensure seamless coordination, efficient operations, and mutually beneficial partnerships with suppliers, carriers, and other stakeholders involved in the logistics process.  The selected candidate will crucial role in optimizing supplier performance, driving cost-effectiveness, and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction through effective relationship management.

Have a broad insight into ocean shipping and use that knowledge to bring value and opportunities to Celanese. Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to implement align procurement strategies to align with business objectives and requirements.

 

YOU will be involved in the following tasks:

 

  • Develop and maintain strategic operational relationships with key suppliers and logistics partners in the liner, air, and freight forwarder space and develop “leading edge” ideas to further advance and create long term competitive advantage for the businesses.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for logistics partners and suppliers, fostering open communication and collaboration.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and performance enhancements.
  • Support regional procurement teams to implement global RFP’s for Liner mode.
  • Acts as a consultant relative to market dynamics, capability of the suppliers, business drivers as well as industry best practices.  
  • Coordinate with Strategic Sourcing Manager to consolidate, prepare and circulate commentaries and setting up a communications channel on the liner shipping market conditions.
  • Identify innovative solutions that support supplier consolidation, improved service, delivery, cost, and lead times.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the performance of logistics partners and suppliers.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and audits to assess compliance with contractual agreements and quality standards.  Develop and implement action plans to address performance issues.

Qualifications:

What YOU will bring to the team:

 

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in supply chain, international transportation, or related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

 

  • Knowledge of the modes (daily operations, carriers, service lanes, quality and service standards, negotiation techniques, and follow-through, etc.)
  • Knowledge of product specifications and appropriate method of shipment.
  • Knowledge of how carriers operate and ability to judge their performance.

 

 

NECESSARY FUNCTIONAL SKILLS

 

  • Strong understanding of ocean containerized shipping, air and freight forwarding
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal stakeholders and external suppliers at all levels.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Understanding and execution of escalation procedures to appropriate stakeholders in managing the supplier relationship.
  • Project management skills to drive timely and cost-effective results on corporate initiatives and projects.
  • Deep understanding of logistics and supply chain dynamics, including industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements, including knowledge of insurance, indemnification, warranties, and IncoTerms.
  • Proven experience in supply chain management, logistics operations, or procurement, with a focus on relationship management and supplier collaboration.
  • Proficiency in supply chain software and technology platforms, including ERP systems (SAP) and transportation management systems (TMS), as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt quickly to changing priorities and business needs.
