                                                                               Currently we are looking for a Student Intern

 

                                                                                 to join our Commercial Team in Amsterdam

 

Responsibilities:

  • Review and approve price requests on a daily basis and update product price lists on monthly basis - all prices must be approved by business, price requests that are below list price must be reviewed and approved by business, review includes calculating variable margins based on current product costs and comparative price levels for similar product customer combinations, price requests then need to be approved via email or provide sales person with alternative price to quote
  • Analyze profitability of existing business and provide Regional Business Manager with recommendations on how to improve - analyze monthly product margin reports (includes quantity of sales, average selling price, cost, profit margin, etc.) to identify customer / product combinations where margins are below expectations, also review total level of sales and profitability to consider potential phasing out of products to simplify operations.
  • Weekly review sales data to determine deviations to the current forecast - business operate with detailed forecast made at product / customer level identifying the expected sales quantity for a given period (e.g. month, quarter, year). Intern will need to analyze on weekly basis how the actual orders are developing to identify major deviations from the forecast (e.g. sales greater / less than forecast), determine the reasons for the deviations (e.g. production issues, lower customer demand, etc.) and identify actions to close these gaps. This work will be in close coordination with supply chain, sales and manufacturing.
  • Support Regional Business Manager on ad-hoc analysis - from time to time as issues may come up, the intern will be asked to support in ad-hoc analysis

INTERNSHIP WILL LAST FOR MINIMUM OF 6 MONTHS

- Exposure to key functions of a business and how they operate (e.g. sales, manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, finance, etc.)
- Participating in open, inclusive, friendly and drive corporate culture
- Insights into what its like working in global manufacturing driven company

Qualifications:

  • Use of all Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. excel, powerpoint, word, etc.)
  • Solid quantittive and data analytics
  • General knowledge of business and finance
  • Economics and / or business degree student (e.g. bachelors or masters candidate)
  • Strong quantitaive analytical skills (including good Excel skills) and logical problem solving
  • Mature and motivated individual comfortable working independently with manager guidance
  • Good communication skills with business fluency in English (German, Dutch language skills a plus)
  • Understanding of chemical industry / chemical engineering a plus but not required
